FAQ - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can I connect multiple solar panels?
Yes! Solarbank 4 has 4 independent MPPT inputs. You can connect up to 4 panels directly, up to 8 in parallel with Y cables, or up to 12 with the 3-in-1 adapter cable. Maximum power: 1250W per input, 5000W total. Panel Voc between 16 and 60V, parallel connection only.
What is the difference with the Solarbank 3?
Nearly double capacity (5024 Wh vs 2688 Wh), superior solar input (5000W vs 3600W), more powerful backup (2500W vs 1200W), IP66 instead of IP65, local Home Assistant integration via Modbus TCP and Smart Meter Gen 2 with wired RS485 connection. With the Power Dock you can also combine them in the same system.
Can I use the 2500W output?
Yes, but for permanent grid connection beyond plug & play limits, a dedicated circuit with a Wieland socket or direct wiring to the panel, installed by a qualified electrician, and the registration of the system according to current regulations is required.
How many batteries can I add?
Up to 5 BP5000 expansion batteries (5024 Wh each), for a total of approximately 30 kWh. The BP2700 and BP1600 batteries from previous generations are also compatible: in mixed configurations they must be stacked from the bottom up in the order BP1600 → BP2700 → BP5000, with the Solarbank on top.
Does it work with Home Assistant?
Yes! Solarbank 4 supports official Anker integration for Home Assistant via Modbus TCP on the local network: real-time monitoring every 5 seconds and control of operating modes, without cloud and without internet dependence.
Is an electrician needed for installation?
No, for standard 790W use it is a Plug & Play system: you connect the panels, the home socket and configure the app. An electrician is only needed if you want to use the output up to 2500W with a dedicated circuit.
Is it safe for outdoor use?
Absolutely yes! With IP66 certification it is completely protected against dust and strong water jets. It operates from -20°C to +55°C. It should still be installed according to instructions, with adequate ventilation and avoiding prolonged water accumulation.
